troubleshooting
common issues and how to fix them.
wallet + sign-in
i can't sign in on a new device
your encrypted wallet backup syncs via a cross-domain cookie. if cookies are blocked or cleared, the backup cannot be found. try:
- make sure third-party cookies are not blocked for
*.ourpraxis.network - try signing in on your subdomain (
yourname.ourpraxis.network) first - if you have your recovery phrase, use "import wallet" to restore from the phrase
forgot my password
use your 12-word recovery phrase to restore your wallet. go to the sign-in screen and choose "import wallet." if you lost both your password and recovery phrase, the account cannot be recovered.
biometrics not working
biometric verification requires hardware support (Touch ID, Face ID, fingerprint reader). check that biometrics are enabled for your browser in your device settings. if your device does not support it, praxis falls back to password confirmation.
registration
invite code says "invalid"
invite codes are single-use. if someone else already redeemed it, it will show as invalid. ask the person who shared it whether they have another code. codes are also chain-specific — they only work on the Scroll network.
transaction failed during registration
check that you have enough ETH for the deploy fee (0.005 ETH (~$10)) plus a small amount for gas. if your balance is on another chain, the bridge should activate automatically. if it does not, go to settings and bridge manually.
messaging
i can't message someone
DMs require mutual follows. check that both you and the other person are following each other. if you just followed them, wait a moment for the blockchain to confirm.
messages not loading
XMTP uses a local database in your browser (OPFS). if the page was opened in multiple tabs, one tab may hold the lock. close other tabs and refresh. if messages still don't load, the XMTP network may be experiencing delays — check system status.
media + uploads
upload failed
uploads go to IPFS. large files may take longer. check your internet connection. if the upload keeps failing, the IPFS node may be busy — try again in a few minutes. check system status for IPFS health.
media not playing
media is served via IPFS. if it loads slowly, the content may be fetching from the network. refresh the page. for audio, make sure the persistent player is visible at the bottom of the screen.
domains
custom domain not working
DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours but usually resolves in minutes. verify your DNS records:

once DNS resolves, TLS certificate provisioning happens automatically. your subdomain (yourname.ourpraxis.network) always works as a fallback.
general
page not loading
check system status for real-time health of all services. if the server is healthy, try clearing your browser cache or loading in a private window.
transaction stuck
blockchain transactions usually confirm in seconds on Scroll. if a transaction is stuck, it may be due to network congestion. wait a few minutes and refresh. your wallet balance will update once the transaction confirms.
